Netherlands to Deliver Promised F-16 Fighters to Ukraine

In a recent announcement, the Prime Minister of the Netherlands, Mark Rutte, revealed that the promised F-16 fighters will be delivered to a training center in Romania within two weeks. Rutte made this announcement during a video conference with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. The Netherlands has pledged to strengthen Ukraine’s air defense by sending these F-16 fighters to Romania.

According to Rutte, this means that training courses for Ukrainian pilots, who will operate these fighters, may begin in the near future.

Earlier, Yuriy Ignat, a representative of the Ukrainian Air Force Command, stated that Ukraine hopes to receive the first American F-16 fighters in the spring of next year. He mentioned that various Western officials have provided different dates for the delivery of the aircraft.

Previously, Denmark stated that Ukraine would not be able to use the F-16 fighters anywhere other than its own territory. It is expected that some of the promised aircraft will be handed over to Kiev in the near future. Russia has previously expressed concerns that the F-16 fighters could be used to transport nuclear weapons and has threatened a military response if these fighters appear in Ukrainian airspace.
