In a recent development, the armed wing of the Islamic Jihad group, known as the “Jerusalem Brigades” or “Saraya al-Quds” (a group banned in Russia), targeted an Israeli armored column with mortar fire in the Es-Sudani area of the Gaza Strip. This clash comes amidst intensified airstrikes by the Israeli Air Force on southern and eastern regions, as well as the Beit Lahia and Beit Hanoun camps in the north, according to Al Hadath TV.
The Jerusalem Brigades stated that they engaged in a firefight with the Israeli army, aiming to prevent their advancement into their territory. Earlier reports indicated that Israeli Defense Forces tanks were spotted approaching the city of Gaza, with the main road being cut off.
On October 7th, Hamas launched thousands of rockets into Israeli territory and declared the start of the “Al-Aqsa Flood” operation. Thousands of militants infiltrated Israeli territory, seizing dozens of military vehicles and over a hundred hostages. In response, Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu declared that the country was in a state of war.
The Israeli Defense Forces’ retaliatory operation, named “Iron Swords,” has the objective of dismantling Hamas. The Israeli Air Force has carried out strikes on hundreds of Hamas targets in the Gaza Strip, while the Israeli National Security Council has decided to halt the supply of water, food, goods, electricity, and fuel to the region. On October 13th, Israel informed the United Nations that 1.1 million Palestinians must evacuate to the south of Gaza within 24 hours in preparation for a ground operation.
