The Chief of the General Staff of the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), Lieutenant General Aviv Kochavi, has declared that the army is in a state of high readiness along the northern border of the country. On October 28th, a senior member of Hamas, Ali Baraka, stated that Israel’s attempted ground offensive from three directions into the Gaza Strip did not succeed, resulting in significant casualties for the IDF. He also mentioned that Israel employed helicopters to evacuate its soldiers from the battlefield.
Prior to this, Hamas reported resistance to Israel’s invasion in the northeast of Gaza. Israeli authorities rejected a UN General Assembly resolution calling for a ceasefire in the Palestinian-Israeli conflict. Israeli Foreign Minister, Eli Cohen, made this statement.
