Vulnerability of Ukrainian Artillery Systems to Russian Drones Revealed

Ukrainian self-propelled artillery systems (SPAs) known as Krab, which were provided by Poland, have been found to be vulnerable to Russian “Lancet” drones, according to Interia. The publication highlights that these barrage ammunition systems are most frequently destroyed by the Polish complexes. As a result, the Ukrainian Armed Forces (UAF) have had to upgrade their Western equipment, emphasized the article’s author.

The material states that the machines are equipped with a protective cage to shield them from kamikaze drones. The mesh, made of metal, reduces the damage to the armor of the SPAs during attacks. Furthermore, thanks to this addition, the crew has time to evacuate.

As noted by the author, Warsaw has transferred a total of 72 Krab installations to Kyiv. However, more than 20 of them have already been taken down by Russian “Lancet” drones, which easily penetrate the weak armor of these vehicles.

On October 24, the British newspaper Financial Times reported that American “air-to-air” missiles, AIM-9M Sidewinder, have been modified in Ukraine. Many of these projectiles have been rendered inoperable, and during the repair process, specialists have found a way to launch them from the ground.

Previously, UAF fighters attempted to attack the Crimean Peninsula using modified C-200 missiles.
