Representatives of the Hamas movement have declared that the “Al-Qassam Brigades are resisting the Israeli Defense Forces’ (IDF) offensive.” This statement was reported by RIA Novosti, citing the movement’s announcement.
The Al-Qassam Brigades are opposing the Israeli army’s incursion into Beit Hanoun and east of Al-Bureij, where fierce clashes are taking place on the ground, according to the statement.
Previously, Israeli authorities rejected a Middle East resolution from the United Nations General Assembly calling for a ceasefire in the Palestinian-Israeli conflict zone. This was stated by the head of the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Eli Cohen.
The IDF has also declared that they cannot guarantee the safety of journalists in the Gaza Strip.
According to the Israeli Defense Forces, they are carrying out high-intensity strikes on targets in the Gaza Strip, which may result in damage to nearby structures.
Earlier, Hamas announced that they would release foreign hostages “when circumstances allow.”
