UN Loses Communication with Gaza Staff and Healthcare Facilities Amidst Blockade

The United Nations (UN) has reportedly lost all communication with its staff, healthcare facilities, and humanitarian partners in the Gaza Strip, according to the Director-General of the World Health Organization (WHO), Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus. In a social media post, Ghebreyesus expressed concern over the safety of the personnel in Gaza due to the ongoing blockade.

“We have completely lost contact with our staff in Gaza,” he wrote.

Ghebreyesus further stated that communication has been severed with medical institutions, healthcare workers, and other humanitarian partners in the Palestinian enclave. The blockade has raised serious concerns about their safety, emphasized the head of the WHO, urging immediate protection measures.

Prior to this, the Izzedine al-Qassam Brigades, a faction within the Palestinian radical movement Hamas, reported armed clashes with units of the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) in the northern and eastern parts of the Gaza Strip.

Hamas had previously commented on Israel’s ground operation.
