President Biden Orders Strikes on Iranian Targets in Syria

President Joe Biden has ordered strikes on two targets in Syria that were allegedly used by Iran, according to the US government. This decision comes in response to a series of attacks on American military positions. US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin made this announcement, as reported by TASS.

Austin emphasized that the US will take “further necessary measures” if pro-Iranian groups continue to attack American military personnel.

He stated that the US strikes on Iranian targets in Syria are purely in self-defense and unrelated to the conflict between Israel and the Palestinian movement Hamas.

“On the order of President Biden, the US military forces carried out self-defense strikes on two targets in eastern Syria, which were being used by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps of Iran and its affiliated groups,” the statement from the Defense Department read.

On the night of October 27, the Al Mayadeen channel reported explosions at a US base in the Deir ez-Zor province of Syria.

Earlier, the US disclosed the timeline for Israel’s ground operation in Gaza.
