Russian Army Aviation Introduces Advanced Missile System for Helicopters

The Russian Army’s aviation branch has recently unveiled a new weapon that allows helicopter crews to engage targets without entering the enemy’s air defense zone. In an interview with the newspaper “Krasnaya Zvezda,” Major General Igor Romanov, the chief of the Russian Aerospace Forces’ army aviation, revealed that the Light Multi-Purpose Guided Missile (LMUR), also known as “Product 305,” offers enhanced capabilities for conducting modern military operations.

According to Major General Romanov, the Russian Aerospace Forces have been equipping their ranks with upgraded combat helicopters, including the Ka-52M and Mi-28NM, for several years. These helicopters have been designed to meet the requirements of contemporary conflicts. The deployment of new weapon systems, such as the LMUR, the Chrysanthemum Anti-Tank Guided Missile (ATGM), and the Verba surface-to-air missile, allows for the engagement of targets outside the reach of the enemy’s air defense systems.

Every year, the Russian Army’s aviation fleet is updated with new and modernized aircraft, ensuring the pilots have access to advanced combat capabilities. The significant increase in the combat potential of these upgraded helicopters has been highly appreciated by the pilots.

During the summer, NATO recognized the effectiveness of the Russian Ka-52 helicopter as a formidable weapon.

Earlier, Defense Minister Sergey Shoygu had disclosed information about Russia’s military exercises in Ukraine.
