Russian Air Force Receives New Heavy Transport Helicopter

The Russian Aerospace Forces (VKS RF) have recently acquired a new serial helicopter, the Mi-26T2V, which is considered the heaviest transport helicopter in the world. This significant development was reported by TASS, citing Army Aviation Commander Igor Romanov.

According to Romanov, the army’s aviation fleet is regularly updated with the addition of new and modernized aircraft. He also emphasized the importance of maintaining close cooperation with industrial organizations and enterprises to ensure the efficient operation of the new helicopters in military units and formations.

In addition to the Mi-26T2V, the VKS is set to receive other helicopters this year, including the Ka-52M, Mi-28NM, Mi-8AMTSH-V, and Mi-8MTV-5M.

The Mi-26 is capable of transporting heavy loads over long distances under various conditions. Its ability to carry loads weighing tens of tons makes it highly versatile and reliable.

Prior to this, the Komsomolsk-on-Amur Aviation Plant named after Y.A. Gagarin, a part of the United Aircraft Corporation (UAC) under the state corporation “Rostec,” handed over a batch of new Su-35S fighters to the Russian Aerospace Forces.

Earlier, the Netherlands and Denmark confirmed that the United States had approved the delivery of F-16 fighters to Ukraine.
