Car Crashes into Home and Police Station in New Jersey, Four Men Charged with Theft of $234,500 in Dimes

In a shocking incident in New Jersey, a man has been charged with terrorism after intentionally crashing his car into a home before colliding with a police station. The incident took place while the suspect was blaring Guns N’ Roses’ iconic song “Welcome to the Jungle.” Federal authorities have unsealed charges against four men who were allegedly involved in a daring heist earlier this year. These men are accused of breaking into an unmarked trailer in Philadelphia that contained a whopping 2 million dimes.

The accused individuals have been identified as 25-year-old Rakiem Savage, 31-year-old Ronald Byrd, 30-year-old Haneef Palmer, and 32-year-old Malik Palmer. They face charges of conspiracy, robbery, theft of government money, and other related offenses. The trailer, which was parked in a Walmart parking lot, was broken into overnight. When the police arrived at the scene, they found dimes scattered across the parking lot.

Authorities have revealed that the truck carrying the dimes was en route from the U.S. Mint in Philadelphia to Miami, Florida when the theft occurred on April 13. The driver had parked the trailer at a Walmart parking lot, providing an opportunity for the thieves to break in. The stolen dimes amounted to a cargo worth $750,000, weighing approximately six tons. Police estimate that the group made off with $234,500 worth of dimes.

According to reports, this theft was part of a series of robberies targeting tractor-trailers passing through the region. The stolen goods in previous incidents included frozen crab legs, shrimp, meat, beer, and liquor. Surveillance video from the scene showed six men wearing gray hoodies and armed with bolt cutters, breaking into the truck and loading the coins into smaller bags before transferring them to a waiting truck.

The indictment, which was unsealed on Friday, alleges that the stolen dimes were converted into cash at coin machines in Maryland or deposited into at least four different suburban Philadelphia banks. The investigation is ongoing.

The incident has raised concerns about the security of valuable shipments and the vulnerability of parked trailers. Authorities are working to ensure the safety of such shipments in the future.
