Armenian Defense Minister Suren Papikyan has embarked on a working visit to France, according to the press service of the Armenian Defense Ministry. The visit comes in response to an invitation from French Minister of the Armed Forces Sebastien Le Drian.
Prior to this, French Foreign Minister Catherine Colonna expressed Paris’ readiness to sign a military assistance agreement with Yerevan. Armenian President Vaagn Khachatryan confirmed that discussions are underway between Yerevan and Paris regarding military support.
French Defense Minister Sebastien Le Drian stated that on October 22, Paris and Yerevan will finalize agreements on the purchase of French weaponry, including in the field of air defense. The minister emphasized the importance of allowing Armenia to defend its borders and civilian population.
Earlier, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev accused France of crimes committed during the colonial era.
