In a significant development, South Korea, the United States, and Japan have conducted joint military exercises involving their air forces. This marks the first time that these three countries have collaborated in such a manner. Recently, South Korea’s Minister of Defense, Shin Won-Sik, held his first discussions in his new role with the US Secretary of Defense, Lloyd Austin. During their meeting, they discussed responding to the threats posed by North Korea and further strengthening cooperation. The Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Korea stated that both ministers highly appreciated the progress made by the two governments in strengthening the US-South Korea alliance. They also emphasized that this cooperation is evolving into a “comprehensive global strategic partnership.”
Additionally, the ministers emphasized the importance of maintaining a strong joint defense position between South Korea and the United States to deter and respond to nuclear and missile threats from North Korea.
In related news, the Netherlands and Denmark have confirmed that the United States has approved the shipment of F-16 fighters to Ukraine. This development further underscores the international support for Ukraine’s defense capabilities.
