Son of Nashville Police Chief Wanted for Shooting Two Tennessee Officers

Tennessee authorities have issued a Blue Alert for John C. Drake, Jr., the son of Metropolitan Nashville Police Chief John Drake, who is wanted for allegedly shooting two police officers outside a Dollar General store on Saturday. The suspect is wanted on two counts of attempted first-degree murder, and a Blue Alert has been issued to notify the public about a suspect sought for killing or seriously injuring an officer, according to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation.

The incident occurred when officers were investigating a stolen vehicle, and Drake, Jr. pulled out a handgun and opened fire outside the Dollar General. La Vergne Police Chief Chris Moews stated at a press conference that the officers had a struggle with the suspect before he produced a handgun and fired shots. One officer was shot in the rear left shoulder, while the other was shot in the right groin and right forearm. Fortunately, both officers are in stable condition.

In a statement, Metropolitan Nashville Police Chief John Drake expressed shock and sadness over the situation, stating that he had minimal contact with his estranged son over the years. Drake Sr. also revealed that his son, now 38 years old, has a history of criminal activity and is a convicted felon. He emphasized the need for his son to be found and held accountable for his actions.

Authorities have described the suspect as 5-foot-11 with a muscular build, facial hair, and dreadlocks. He was last seen wearing a black T-shirt with a white hockey mask emblem on the front and gray pants. Drake, Jr. is considered armed and dangerous.

Law enforcement agencies have urged the public to remain vigilant and report any sightings or information about the suspect immediately. A shelter-in-place order that was previously in effect for the Lake Forest community has been lifted, as there is no immediate threat to the public.

The investigation into the shooting is ongoing, and authorities are working tirelessly to apprehend the suspect. The incident serves as a reminder of the risks and dangers law enforcement officers face while protecting their communities.
