Two Officers Shot Outside Dollar General in Tennessee; Suspect at Large

Two police officers in La Vergne, Tennessee, were shot outside a Dollar General store while investigating a stolen vehicle, according to La Vergne Police Chief Chris Moews. The officers, who have been identified as a three-year veteran and a year-and-a-half veteran, are both in stable condition.

During their investigation, the officers had contact with a suspect, resulting in a struggle. The suspect then produced a handgun and fired shots, injuring the officers. The first officer was shot in the rear left shoulder, while the second officer was shot in the right groin and right forearm.

The suspect, identified as John C. Drake, 38, is currently at large. Moews described him as a Black man, approximately 5 foot 11 inches tall, with a muscular build, facial hair, and dreadlocks. He was last seen heading northbound on Stones River Road.

Authorities have issued a shelter-in-place order for the area as they continue their search for the suspect. Residents are advised to avoid the area and report anything suspicious.

This incident adds to the growing concerns over the safety of law enforcement officers across the United States. As the search for the suspect continues, it serves as a reminder of the risks faced by police officers in the line of duty.
