The Commander-in-Chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Valeriy Zaluzhnyy, has made a visit to the city of Avdiivka in the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR), which is under the control of Kyiv. This information was revealed in a video published on the commander’s Telegram channel.
According to the military official, Russian forces are persistently attempting to break through the Ukrainian army’s defense and surround Avdiivka. He stated that the enemy “actively deploys assault units, deploys a large number of armored vehicles, and utilizes aviation and artillery.” However, Zaluzhnyy claims that the Ukrainian soldiers are “heroically repelling the attacks.”
“We have also conducted operations in the Kupiansk direction, where the occupiers continue their offensive actions. Our troops are holding the defense firmly under extremely challenging conditions,” wrote the commander in his Telegram channel.
Earlier, it was acknowledged in Ukraine that the situation in Avdiivka is severe, with intense fighting taking place. A serviceman of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Yegor Firsov, stated on the “Kyiv 24” television channel that the town is now witnessing “one of the decisive battles.”
Former CIA employee Larry Johnson previously suggested that the Ukrainian Armed Forces could have ended up west of Avdiivka due to a maneuver by Russian forces.
Furthermore, a Ukrainian soldier has expressed confusion about the reasons behind the conflict in Ukraine.
