Israeli Defense Minister Hints at Possible Ground Operation in Gaza

Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Galant has indicated that Israeli troops stationed on the border with the Gaza Strip may soon enter the Palestinian enclave. The Times of Israel reported that Galant made this statement during a meeting with the “Givati” military brigade on Thursday, October 19th.

During the event, Galant hinted to the soldiers that they may receive orders to begin a ground operation against the Hamas movement in the near future. “Right now, you see Gaza from afar, soon you will see it from the inside,” the minister remarked.

Later that same day, the military wing of the Hamas movement reported clashes with Israeli soldiers in a refugee camp located in the West Bank of the Jordan River. No further details were provided at the time.

Subsequently, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) confirmed that they had struck the Palestinian refugee camp of Nur Shams. According to IDF representatives, the attack was carried out by an army aircraft.

According to the information received, the target of the IDF was a “terrorist armed group.” The IDF’s press office stated that these individuals posed a threat to the safety of soldiers conducting operations in the area.

Earlier in the United States, it was revealed that the Israeli army was preparing for an operation against Hamas that was described as “unprecedented in its intensity.”
