Israeli Police Chief Offers Bus Rides to Gaza for Supporters of Hamas

The Israeli Police Chief, Kobi Shabtai, has promised to help Israeli citizens who support the radical Palestinian movement Hamas to travel by bus to the Gaza Strip. This announcement comes amidst escalating tensions between Israel and Hamas. Shabtai’s remarks were reported by The Times of Israel.

“I welcome anyone who wants to identify themselves with Gaza. I will put them on buses and help them get there,” he stated.

Shabtai also emphasized that the police will not tolerate any demonstrations in support of Hamas on Israeli territory or any acts of incitement. No permits will be issued for such protests.

On October 7th, Hamas forces launched thousands of rockets into Israeli territory and declared the start of the “Al-Aqsa Flood” operation. Thousands of militants infiltrated Israeli territory, seizing dozens of military vehicles and taking over a hundred hostages. In response, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu declared that the country was in a state of war.

The Israeli Defense Forces’ counteroperation was named “Iron Swords,” with the goal of destroying Hamas. Israeli Air Force conducted strikes on hundreds of militant targets in the Gaza Strip, and the National Security Council decided to halt the supply of water, food, goods, electricity, and fuel to the enclave. On October 13th, Israel informed the United Nations that 1.1 million Palestinians should evacuate to the southern part of Gaza in anticipation of a ground operation.
