Russian Forces Launch Heavy Attacks on Ukrainian Military Positions

Russian forces belonging to the “Zapad” military group have carried out a series of heavy attacks on Ukrainian military positions, inflicting significant damage. The strikes were directed towards the shelters where Ukrainian armed forces were stationed, as revealed by Sergey Zybinsky, the chief spokesperson for the military group, in an interview with RIA Novosti.

The attacks took place in the vicinity of the town of Sergeevka, located along the Kupyansk direction. In the same area, Su-34 fighter-bomber aircraft targeted temporary encampments of Ukrainian troops and support points of the 44th Mechanized Brigade in the vicinity of Berestove.

Furthermore, attack helicopters such as Ka-52 and Mi-28, along with tactical aircraft, launched rockets and bombs on Ukrainian servicemen, as well as their weapons and military equipment. The targets included the 95th Airborne Assault and Assault Brigade, the 14th and 32nd Mechanized Brigades, and territorial defense units.

During the operation, a 152mm self-propelled artillery installation, designated as the 2S3 “Akatsiya,” two mortar squads, and a ammunition point in the areas of Novaya Kruhlyakivka, Sinkovka, and Ivanivka were successfully destroyed. The Ukrainian Armed Forces suffered losses of 80 servicemen, three tanks, an M113 armored personnel carrier, and two pickup trucks.

Earlier, the Russian Ministry of Defense reported that Russian forces had repelled 13 attacks by assault groups along the Kupyansk direction.

Prior to these events, a Ukrainian soldier expressed confusion regarding the reasons behind the conflict in Ukraine.
