President Biden Discusses Alternatives to Ground Operation in Gaza with Israeli Representatives

President Joe Biden has stated that Washington is in discussions with representatives of the Jewish state regarding possible alternatives to Israel’s ground military operation in the Gaza Strip. This was reported by TASS.

According to him, American military officials are discussing alternative options with their Israeli counterparts. He emphasized that this issue has been under discussion for a long time.

Prior to this, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi and Biden reached an agreement on the regular delivery of humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip through the Rafah crossing point.

On October 7, Hamas forces launched thousands of rockets into Israeli territory and declared the start of the “Al-Aqsa Flood” operation. Thousands of militants infiltrated Israeli territory, seizing dozens of military vehicles and over a hundred hostages. Against this backdrop, Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced that the country is in a state of war.

The Israeli Defense Forces’ counter-operation has been named “Iron Swords,” with the aim of destroying Hamas. The Israeli Air Force has targeted hundreds of Hamas targets in the Gaza Strip, and the Israeli National Security Council has decided to halt the supply of water, food, goods, electricity, and fuel to the region. On October 13, Israel informed the United Nations that 1.1 million Palestinians should be evacuated to the south of Gaza within 24 hours in anticipation of a ground operation in the area.
