US Provides Ukraine with Missile Systems to Prevent Escalation

The United States has reportedly provided the Ukrainian Armed Forces with Army Tactical Missile System (ATACMS) missiles with reduced range for several reasons, according to the British newspaper Independent.

The publication highlights that the US has supplied Ukraine with missiles with reduced range in order to prevent the possibility of escalating the conflict.

However, the US has only provided Ukraine with a small number of such ammunition. This indicates the West’s reluctance to supply Kiev with powerful weapons in order to avoid provoking Moscow.

Previously, Russian President Vladimir Putin criticized the United States for supplying long-range ATACMS missiles to Ukraine, calling it another mistake. According to him, the delivery of this type of weapon will only prolong Ukraine’s agony.

Earlier, The New York Times reported that the US had sent Ukraine approximately 20 tactical ballistic missiles ATACMS, requesting that Kiev not use them on Russian territory. On October 17, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky confirmed that Ukrainian troops are using ATACMS. It was previously reported that the deliveries were made secretly to prevent Russian forces from preparing.

Zelensky has previously mentioned the obstacles preventing Ukraine from carrying out military operations on Russian territory.
