RFK Jr. Demands Secret Service Protection as He Announces Independent Run for President

In a recent interview on ‘Hannity’, Robert F. Kennedy Jr. discussed his stance on various topics ahead of the 2024 presidential election and revealed his decision to run as an independent candidate. However, Kennedy’s campaign has faced a setback as the Biden administration rejected his request for Secret Service protection. This has raised concerns about his safety, especially considering the threats he has received and his family’s history of assassinations.

Senator Ted Cruz, a member of the Judiciary Committee, has urged Secretary of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Alejandro Mayorkas, to provide answers regarding the denial of Secret Service protection for Kennedy. Internal Secret Service documents obtained by government watchdog group Judicial Watch revealed that the DHS took 88 days to respond to Kennedy’s request, despite recorded threats against him. Typically, such a request is processed within two weeks.

According to the documents, Kennedy’s increased media attention after accusing the Central Intelligence Agency of involvement in his uncle’s assassination, advocating for the release of his father’s assassin, and speaking out against COVID-19 vaccines has put him at risk. Senator Cruz questions the discrepancy between Kennedy’s case and previous major presidential candidates, such as Donald Trump, Dr. Ben Carson, Barack Obama, and Ted Kennedy, who received Secret Service protection well in advance of the general election.

Cruz demands answers from Secretary Mayorkas regarding the delayed response, the justification for denying service, and the criteria for justifying Secret Service protection. The senator emphasizes the exceptional circumstances surrounding Kennedy’s campaign and urges swift action to provide him the protection he deserves.

Shortly after Kennedy’s request was denied, an armed man was arrested at one of his campaign events in Los Angeles. This incident, along with credible threats against Kennedy, including concerning letters and threatening emails, highlights the potential assassination attempts solely due to his Kennedy affiliation.

The alarming statements revealed in the Secret Service records, including desires to discuss sins and warnings of serious terrorist acts, further emphasize the need for protection. Kennedy’s post on X in July, where he expressed his frustration about the lack of Secret Service protection despite his family’s history, resonates with the concerns raised by Senator Cruz.

Kennedy’s independent bid for the presidency against President Biden has gained attention, and his request for Secret Service protection reflects the seriousness of his campaign. The DHS, in response to Digital’s inquiry, stated that they respond to congressional correspondence through official channels and will continue to address congressional oversight appropriately.

As Kennedy continues his campaign, the issue of his security remains a significant concern. With the backdrop of his family’s tragic history and the threats he has already faced, the demand for Secret Service protection highlights the need to prioritize his safety throughout the 2024 presidential race.
