According to several American officials, the United States has secretly provided Ukraine with long-range ATACMS missiles, giving Ukraine new capabilities to target previously unreachable objectives. The Washington Post reported this development.
Officials confirmed this information after images of these missiles’ submunitions (cluster munitions) on Ukrainian territory began circulating on social media.
Official sources also informed CNN that Ukraine has already used the ATACMS system, some variants of which have a maximum range of about 300 km.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky expressed gratitude for the ATACMS missiles and appreciation for the implementation of agreements with the United States in his daily address.
“Today, I am particularly grateful to the United States. Our agreements with President Biden are being fulfilled. They are being implemented very clearly – ATACMS has proven itself,” stated Zelensky.
National Security Council spokesperson Adrian Watson confirmed in a statement that the United States recently provided Ukraine with ATACMS missiles with a range of up to 165 km.
Previously, the White House commented on the transfer of ATACMS missiles to Ukraine.
