The Lithuanian Army, in collaboration with German defense companies, will be undertaking the repair of Leopard tanks that were damaged during the conflict in Ukraine. This announcement was made on the website of the Lithuanian Ministry of Defense.
Once the tanks have been restored, they will be returned to the Ukrainian Armed Forces (UAF). In Vilnius, it was emphasized that carrying out such tasks will help maintain the readiness of Lithuanian technical personnel, ensure the verification of logistical chains, and provide ongoing assistance to Ukraine.
The Lithuanian Ministry of Defense also reminded that earlier, the repair of German-made self-propelled howitzers PzH2000, which were transferred to the UAF and participated in combat, was organized on Lithuanian territory. Eighteen Ukrainian technical specialists were trained in Lithuania for the repair of these self-propelled howitzers, which rapidly lose a significant portion of their capabilities due to intensive use.
In Vilnius, it was highlighted that Lithuania is tailoring support packages for Ukraine based on its most critical needs and priorities in Kyiv.
Earlier, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania, Gabrielius Landsbergis, called on the international community to continue paying attention to Ukraine, despite the conflict between Hamas and Israel.
Previously, NATO had set a condition for the transfer of F-16s to Ukraine.
