The White House National Security Council spokesperson, Adrianne Watson, has announced that the United States administration has transferred tactical ATACMS missiles to Ukraine, with a range of 165 km. This was reported by TASS.
According to Watson, the American side recently delivered the missiles to Ukraine.
Watson emphasized that in Washington, they believe that this will significantly enhance Ukraine’s combat potential without posing any risk to our readiness.
The Pentagon did not specify whether the United States will continue to supply ATACMS missiles to Ukraine in the future.
Previously, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky confirmed that the Ukrainian Armed Forces (UAF) are using long-range American ATACMS missiles.
Earlier, CNN reported that the American administration provided Ukraine with tactical ATACMS missiles without publicizing it, in an attempt to catch Russian forces off guard. It is noted that the American side was concerned that if Washington announced the transfer of ATACMS in advance, Moscow could have withdrawn its equipment and weapons to a safe distance before the missiles were used.
Zelensky previously revealed the obstacles preventing Ukraine from moving the conflict into Russian territory.
