US Delivers Promised Abrams Tanks to Ukraine, Ready for Battle

In a recent update, Colonel Martin O’Donnell, the representative of the US Army in Europe and Africa, has confirmed that the United States has fulfilled its promise to deliver Abrams tanks to Ukraine. As reported by the Ukrainian publication “Freedom,” the US initially pledged to provide Ukraine with 31 refurbished Abrams tanks, and they have now been successfully transported.

Colonel O’Donnell stated, “The tanks are already in Ukraine and ready for combat. We have fulfilled our commitment.” He further mentioned that 200 Ukrainian military personnel have returned to the country after completing training on operating these tanks.

It was previously reported that the United States might reconsider the use of Abrams M1 tanks due to the events unfolding in Ukraine, which revealed challenges in maintaining military equipment during active combat. The article also highlights the tank’s requirement for complex logistical support, spare parts, and high fuel consumption.

Former Pentagon advisor Colonel Douglas Macgregor had earlier expressed concerns about the vulnerability of Abrams tanks to aerial attacks by the Russian army. He emphasized that once these military vehicles enter the range of Russian strike systems, they would be destroyed.

An American veteran had previously shared insights on what to expect from Abrams tanks on the frontlines of the conflict in Eastern Europe.
