In a “haunted” 1920s New Mexico home, a woman named Rene Valdez claims that her cat and son have been experiencing a haunting presence. According to Valdez, her son described seeing “a man with an old hat that peaks in from the bathroom” in his room. This description eerily matched what another previous owner of the house mentioned on Facebook when Valdez reached out for information, saying, “Oh, I’ve been expecting you.”

Valdez spoke to Inside Edition about the strange occurrences in her home. She mentioned hearing unusual noises and witnessing unexplained phenomena on a daily basis. One unsettling incident involved a disconnected doorbell that would ring violently at night. Additionally, a basement camera captured footage of chairs sliding across the floor, and an Alexa device alerted them to calls ringing from inside the house.

However, the most unsettling aspect for Valdez is the reaction of her pets, particularly her gray cat named “Ruth.” According to Valdez, Ruth constantly sees things in the bedroom and appears to be following something invisible. This behavior, with her ears going back, has deeply unsettled Valdez.

Despite these eerie experiences, Valdez, her girlfriend, her son, and their pets continue to live in the house and have no plans to move out. Valdez feels that she is in the presence of the mysterious entity more than it is in hers, and she has developed a strange fondness for it. She describes it as the “icing on the cake” of the creepy 1920s house that she purchased.

While the presence in the house remains unexplained, Valdez has accepted its existence and chosen not to be bothered by it. She believes that whatever it is, it was there long before they moved in. Valdez’s willingness to coexist with their shadowy roommate adds to the intrigue of this mysterious haunting.

In conclusion, Rene Valdez’s experiences in her 1920s New Mexico home have captured attention due to the strange occurrences and the involvement of her cat and son. The presence of a haunting figure wearing an old hat has both intrigued and frightened Valdez, but she has chosen to embrace it as a unique aspect of her home’s history.
