US Commander Visits Israel to Discuss Military Aid Amidst Escalating Conflict

The head of the US Central Command, General Michael Kurella, arrived in Tel Aviv on October 17 for an undisclosed visit to meet with high-ranking Israeli counterparts to discuss military assistance, as reported by The New York Times.

“I am here to ensure that Israel has everything it needs for defense, and I am particularly focused on preventing the conflict from escalating from other sides,” stated Kurella.

General Kurella’s visit comes four days after the arrival of Pentagon chief Lloyd Austin in the Israeli state, as a sign of support from the US following the sudden attack by Hamas militants.

It is noted that the administration of US President Joe Biden urgently sent additional ammunition, as well as two aircraft carriers and dozens of additional military aircraft to Israel, in an effort to contain the conflict’s expansion and carry out possible airstrikes to protect American interests.

According to The New York Times, Israel has requested $10 billion in emergency assistance from the US.

It was announced yesterday that President Joe Biden is considering a trip to Israel this week. As stated by White House Strategic Communications Coordinator, John Kirby, the President’s visit to the Israeli state would not have been planned if there were not assurances of providing adequate security for the American leader.
