North Korea Accuses NATO of Rehearsing Nuclear War in Annual Exercises

In a recent article published by the North Korean Central Telegraph Agency (CTAK), Kim Dong Myong, a researcher from the North Korean Society of International Politics, claims that NATO’s annual nuclear exercises, known as Steadfast Noon, are actually a rehearsal for nuclear war. These exercises involve various combat aircraft, including fourth and fifth-generation fighters, as well as the strategic bomber B-52, practicing the deployment of the B61 tactical nuclear bombs stationed in Europe.

Kim Dong Myong labels NATO countries as “nuclear fanatics” who, with the support of the United States, engage in dangerous games involving nuclear weapons. The researcher accuses NATO of systematically violating international agreements on nuclear disarmament and threatening states that oppose them with nuclear weapons.

The article particularly emphasizes the “nuclear frenzy” displayed by the United States, which has already exceeded dangerous limits, on the Korean Peninsula. Kim Dong Myong calls on the international community to recognize the actions of the US and NATO in triggering a thermonuclear war and to join forces to prevent these plans from materializing.

Earlier reports indicated that North Korea views Japan’s increase in military spending, its intention to acquire offensive capabilities, and its participation in military exercises with the US and South Korea as signs of Tokyo’s preparation for an invasion of Korea and the conduct of an aggressive war.

Previously, North Korea referred to the presence of US submarines in South Korea as a “trigger for the use of nuclear weapons.”
