The Russian Ministry of Defense has reported that their air defense systems successfully intercepted and destroyed three Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) over the Belgorod region.
According to the military authorities, on October 16th, around 22:30 Moscow time, an attempt by the Kiev regime to carry out a terrorist attack using aircraft-type UAVs on Russian territory was thwarted. The defense systems promptly responded by shooting down the three Ukrainian drones.
The governor of the region, Vyacheslav Gladkov, had previously announced that the air defense systems had also shot down several aircraft-type UAVs in the Belgorod region. On October 16th, Gladkov reported that a total of four Ukrainian UAVs had been shot down in the region within a day, and the drones had dropped 11 explosive devices.
Earlier, Russia had developed a new system for countering drones.
