Former Deputy Head of Khakassia Injured in Special Military Operation

Former Deputy Head of Khakassia, Sergei Novikov, who was convicted of bribery, has been wounded in a special military operation (SMO) zone. This was reported by the 19rusinfo portal. According to the portal, Novikov sustained shrapnel wounds to his legs near Makeevka.

It is noted that the former official found himself in the SMO zone in August. Currently, he is receiving treatment at a hospital in the Luhansk People’s Republic (LPR).

In 2020, Novikov was accused of accepting a bribe of significant value. In May 2021, the Abakan City Court sentenced him to nine years in a strict regime colony. He served his sentence in IK-33 in Khakassia.

Prior to this, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu stated during a thematic selector meeting with the leadership of the Russian Armed Forces that over 98% of injured Russian servicemen in special operations are discharged after recovery.

Earlier, the United States named one of the greatest threats to the Ukrainian Armed Forces (UAF).
