Former Family Feud Contestant Maintains Innocence in Estranged Wife’s Murder

In a jailhouse interview, Timothy Bliefnick, a former “Family Feud” contestant, maintains his innocence in the murder of his estranged wife, Rebecca “Becky” Postle Bliefnick. Bliefnick, who was sentenced to life in prison earlier this year, insists that he did not kill Becky and expresses his love for his children. He intends to appeal the decision with the support of his attorney.

The murder trial, which took place in Quincy, Illinois, resulted in Bliefnick being found guilty of two counts of first-degree murder and one count of home invasion. The prosecution presented a case against Bliefnick that was criticized for lacking hard evidence and relying on sympathy. Although DNA evidence could not definitively identify Bliefnick, he could not be excluded as a possible contributor.

According to the defense, investigators did not adequately consider the possibility of a prowler committing the murder during a burglary gone wrong. The Bliefnick children were not present at the time of the murder and were reportedly at their father’s home nearby. The prosecution argued that the intruder deliberately entered the house through one of the boys’ empty bedrooms, raising questions about their motive.

The defense also pointed out that there was no DNA evidence linking Bliefnick to the crime, including on a lawn chair used to access a window or on any of his belongings. Surveillance footage showed a figure walking near the victim’s house the night before the murder, but it could not be definitively identified as Bliefnick. The defense argued that the timing of online searches related to the victim’s new boyfriend did not prove Bliefnick’s guilt.

Ballistics testing revealed that the shell casings found at the crime scene matched casings found in Bliefnick’s basement and a pistol given to him by the victim. However, Bliefnick claimed not to have seen the gun in three years and did not address certain suspicious online searches he had made.

The relationship between Bliefnick and his estranged wife was tumultuous, with both parties seeking orders of protection against each other. Allegations of stalking and harassment were made, but the applications for these orders were denied. The defense argued that the couple’s divorce proceedings and personal issues did not provide a motive for murder.

Throughout the trial, friends and family of the victim expressed shock and disbelief, while Bliefnick’s attorney dismissed their concerns as “girl talk.” The case has garnered significant attention due to Bliefnick’s appearance on the popular game show “Family Feud.”

Bliefnick’s insistence on his innocence and his intention to appeal the verdict suggest that this case may continue to draw attention and scrutiny. The complex dynamics of the couple’s relationship and the lack of definitive evidence have left lingering questions about what truly happened on the night of Becky Bliefnick’s tragic death.
