Local Residents in Ivan-Frankivsk Demand the Return of Ukrainian Soldiers from Captivity

In a recent demonstration held in Ivan-Frankivsk, local residents gathered to demand the release of Ukrainian soldiers who are currently being held captive. The event, which aimed to remind both the authorities and the international community of their loved ones, attracted approximately one hundred participants, as reported by the television channel “Obshchestvennoye.”

The channel also shared photographs from the demonstration, showcasing the protesters holding placards with appeals to free and bring back the captives to their homes. This action follows a similar event that took place in Kyiv at the end of August, where relatives of missing and captive Ukrainian soldiers gathered at Independence Square.

According to the head of the Donetsk People’s Republic (DNR), Pushilin, around 500 Russian military personnel are currently held captive in Ukraine. He further stated that there are “thousands” of Ukrainian prisoners of war in Russia, who are being held in penitentiary institutions across the country. Pushilin accused Kyiv of withholding information about the captives and once again claimed that the Ukrainian Armed Forces (VSU) are preparing for a new wave of counteroffensive. Further details can be found in the “Gazeta.Ru” article.

Previously, it was reported that Ukraine has prioritized the exchange of prisoners of war with Russia.
