The Russian Defense Ministry has announced the successful interception and destruction of 27 unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) launched from Ukrainian territory, according to RIA Novosti. The ministry stated that the Ukrainian regime attempted a terrorist attack using aircraft-type UAVs on Russian Federation territory, but their efforts were thwarted by the country’s air defense systems. The majority of the intercepted and destroyed UAVs, 18 in total, were neutralized over the skies of the Kursk region, as clarified by the Russian Defense Ministry.
Prior to this incident, the Kursk region had reported 12 downed UAVs launched from Ukraine. Governor Roman Starovoit had previously stated that as a result of the shelling by the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the Glushkovskiy district of the Kursk region, one settlement and three villages were left without electricity.
It is worth noting that Russia has recently developed a new drone suppression system to counter such threats.
