US Urges Israel to Halt Ground Operation in Gaza Until Safe Corridor is Established

Journalist Jackie Henrich of Fox News reported on her social media page, formerly known as Twitter, that the United States has requested Israel to delay the start of its ground operation in the Gaza Strip until a safe corridor is established for the evacuation of civilians. According to Henrich, she received this information from three sources. However, it remains unclear whether the Israeli side has agreed to comply with this request. Henrich also mentioned that the first charter flight has already departed from the region, evacuating around 100 individuals.

On the previous day, Russian President Vladimir Putin warned that Israel’s ground operation in the Gaza Strip could lead to severe consequences. On October 7th, Hamas forces launched thousands of rockets into Israeli territory, declaring the beginning of the “Flood of Al-Aqsa” operation. Thousands of militants infiltrated Israeli territory, seizing dozens of military vehicles and over a hundred hostages. Against this backdrop, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu declared that the country is in a state of war.

The retaliatory operation by the Israel Defense Forces has been named “Iron Swords,” with the destruction of Hamas being one of its objectives. The Israeli Air Force conducted airstrikes on hundreds of Hamas targets in the Gaza Strip, while the Israeli National Security Council decided to halt the supply of water, food, goods, electricity, and fuel to the region. On October 13th, Israel informed the United Nations that 1.1 million Palestinians should evacuate to the southern Gaza Strip within 24 hours in preparation for the ground operation.

Earlier, Russia mentioned a possible timeframe for the conclusion of the Israel-Hamas conflict.
