Journalist Killed and Three Injured in Israeli Attack in Lebanon

In a tragic incident, a journalist was killed and three others were injured, including two employees of the television channel Al-Jazeera, as a result of an Israeli shelling in southern Lebanon, according to the channel. The attack targeted their vehicle in the Alma-esh-Shaab area, as stated in a message reported by RIA Novosti.

Al-Jazeera is an international media company headquartered in the Qatari capital, Doha. It was established in 1996 under the decree of the Qatari emir.

Earlier, it was reported that 1,799 people were killed in the Israeli shelling of the Gaza Strip. On October 7th, Hamas forces launched several thousand rockets into Israel, announcing the start of the “Al-Aqsa Flood” operation. Thousands of militants infiltrated the country, seizing dozens of military vehicles and over a hundred hostages. Against this backdrop, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu declared the country to be in a state of war.

The Israeli Defense Forces’ response operation is called “Iron Swords,” with one of its goals being the destruction of Hamas. The Israeli Air Force has targeted hundreds of Hamas targets in the Gaza Strip, and the Israeli National Security Council has decided to suspend the supply of water, food, goods, electricity, and fuel to the area. On October 13th, Israel informed the UN that 1.1 million Palestinians must evacuate to the south of Gaza within 24 hours in anticipation of a ground operation.

Since the start of the conflict between Israel and Hamas, 12 Russians have been reported missing by their relatives. Israeli and Russian police are currently searching for Russian citizens, and at least four Russians have been confirmed dead. The embassy stated that the number of casualties is still rising.
