US Military Chief Assures Support for Ukraine’s Sovereignty in Phone Call with Ukrainian Commander

The Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff of the US Armed Forces, General Charles Brown, recently held a phone conversation with the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Valeriy Zaluzhny. The discussion revolved around the ongoing conflict and both parties exchanged views and assessments of the situation. In a statement issued by the US Joint Chiefs of Staff, it was emphasized that General Brown reaffirmed unwavering support for Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.

This phone call comes in the midst of allegations made by former Pentagon advisor Colonel Douglas Macgregor on the YouTube channel “Judging Freedom.” Macgregor claimed that a conflict had arisen between Commander Zaluzhny and the authorities in Ukraine. According to Macgregor, Zaluzhny was instructed to remain silent after raising concerns about issues within the Ukrainian army, such as the inadequate salaries of servicemen and the misappropriation of compensation intended for soldiers’ families by senior commanders. Macgregor did not rule out the possibility that Zaluzhny may have faced physical threats.

Earlier, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky revealed the challenges faced by Ukraine in shifting military operations onto Russian territory. The obstacles include logistical and strategic complexities, as well as the risk of escalating the conflict further.

The phone call between General Brown and Commander Zaluzhny highlights the continued support of the United States for Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. As the conflict in Ukraine persists, it is crucial for international actors to actively engage and seek peaceful resolutions to ensure stability in the region.
