Ukraine Receives New Military Support Package from International Fund

The International Fund for the Support of Ukraine (IFU), chaired by the United Kingdom and comprising Denmark, Norway, Sweden, the Netherlands, Iceland, and Lithuania, has announced the provision of a new military support package to Kyiv worth over £100 million (approximately $123 million). The corresponding statement was published on the British government’s website.

In the press release, it is stated that Ukraine’s actions demonstrate its ability to stand up to Russia, provided that the West continues to equip the country with weapons. The new military aid package will help restore the number of transport vehicles and assist Ukrainian military forces in being more maneuverable on the battlefield. The package includes tanks and engines for armored vehicles, temporary bridges and heavy equipment transporters for moving main battle tanks, means for breaching minefields, and portable demining equipment, enabling infantry to cross minefields and install obstacle-clearing equipment.

The statement also mentions that contracts for the supply of air defense systems have been concluded between the fund and Ukraine. The republic will receive the first air defense complexes by the end of 2023. This announcement was made on October 12 during a meeting of defense ministers within the contact group for the defense of Ukraine. The deliveries are financed by contributions from the United Kingdom, Norway, the Netherlands, Denmark, Sweden, Lithuania, and Iceland.

Earlier, the United States and Ukraine initiated negotiations on guarantees for Kyiv’s security.
