Houston Pastor Arrested for Allegedly Sexually Assaulting Family Member for Over a Decade

A Houston-area pastor has been arrested and charged with continuous sexual abuse of a child and sexual assault of a child under the age of 17. According to court records, 39-year-old Robert L. Carter allegedly sexually assaulted a juvenile family member hundreds of times over a span of more than a decade, starting when she was just 7 years old in 2008.

The victim, who is now 22, reported that Carter would enter her bedroom and force her to perform sexual acts on him. This abuse became a regular occurrence, with Carter allegedly disrobing in front of her and bribing her with candy. The victim stated that these assaults occurred at least 600 times.

In addition to the assaults at home, Carter also allegedly sexually abused the young girl at the Greater Bible Way Church in Sunnyside, where he worked. He would reportedly drive her to school and assault her in his vehicle, sometimes making her watch pornography on his cellphone.

The abuse finally came to an end when the victim was 19 years old. However, three years prior, she became pregnant with Carter’s child. She gave birth to a baby boy in a closet, and Carter allegedly took the child to a firehouse and abandoned him.

The girl eventually reported the abuse to the police, leading to Carter’s arrest. He is currently being held at the Harris County Jail on a $100,000 bond.

This disturbing case highlights the importance of addressing child sexual abuse and protecting vulnerable individuals from predators. The long-term impact of such abuse can have devastating effects on survivors, and it is crucial for society to take action against those responsible.
