NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg has stated that the strengthening of the United States’ presence is necessary to prevent countries that are “hostile” towards Israel from exploiting the current situation to their advantage. This was reported by RIA Novosti. Stoltenberg emphasized the significance of ensuring that any countries or organizations hostile to Israel do not attempt to take advantage of the ongoing situation. He highlighted that the increased military presence of the US in the region serves as a deterrent factor in this conflict.
According to Stoltenberg, the support provided to Israel will not distract NATO countries from their support for Ukraine, as NATO members have the capacity to respond to multiple challenges simultaneously. Earlier, Stoltenberg stated that NATO will continue to provide full support to Ukraine. He underscored that he considers the security of Ukraine as the security of the West, and the values of Kyiv as their own values.
On October 11, it was revealed that President Zelensky had made an unannounced visit to the capital of Belgium. A new meeting in the “Ramstein” format is scheduled to take place in Brussels, along with meetings of defense ministers from NATO countries and a meeting of the Ukraine-NATO Council.
Previously, Borrell stated that the refusal to provide military assistance to Ukraine would not lead to peace.
