In a recent interview with CBS, White House National Security Council spokesperson John Kirby stated that the United States currently has no plans to send its troops to Israel. Kirby emphasized that Washington will always do what is necessary to protect its interests in national security and fulfill its commitments to security worldwide. “This is precisely why we have deployed an aircraft carrier group to the eastern Mediterranean,” he added.
This statement comes after Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov accused the US of attempting to monopolize mediation efforts in resolving the conflict between Palestine and Israel. Former US President Donald Trump had previously blamed the US for Hamas’ attack on Israel and pledged to expand support for Israel and cease all aid to Palestine if elected president again.
On October 7th, Hamas forces launched thousands of rockets into Israeli territory, announcing the beginning of their operation named “Flood of Al-Aqsa.” In response, Israeli Minister of National Security Itamar Ben-Gvir declared a state of emergency within the country. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated that the nation is in a state of war, and the Israeli Defense Forces’ operation against Hamas has been named “Iron Swords.”
