Israeli Army Struggles to Combat Hamas, More Time Needed

In a recent briefing with journalists, Richard Hecht, representative of the Israeli Defense Forces, stated that it will take more time than expected to combat Hamas militants on Israeli territory. He explained that Israeli forces are currently engaged in battles with Hamas fighters in seven to eight locations outside of Gaza, including the kibbutzim of Beeri, Kfar-Aza, Nirim, and Alumim. Hecht revealed that overnight, around 70 armed militants infiltrated the kibbutz of Beeri, with some being neutralized and others still hiding in homes. “More time is needed than we anticipated to restore the situation to a defensive position,” said the Israeli Defense Forces’ Lieutenant Colonel.

On October 7, Hamas forces launched several thousand rockets into Israeli territory, declaring the start of the “Al-Aqsa Flood” operation. In response, Israel’s Minister of National Security, Itamar Ben-Gvir, declared a state of emergency in the country. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced that the country is in a state of war. The Israeli Defense Forces’ operation against Hamas has been named “Operation Iron Swords”. Netanyahu had previously vowed to destroy Hamas.

The ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas has raised concerns about the escalation of violence in the region. The Israeli government’s response to the Hamas attacks has drawn international attention and criticism, with calls for a peaceful resolution to the conflict. The situation remains tense, and the international community closely watches the developments in this ongoing conflict.
