Massive Rocket Strike Hits Ashkelon as ‘Flood of Al-Aqsa’ Operation Intensifies

In a recent development, members of the “Saraya al-Quds” group, the armed wing of the Islamic Jihad (an organization banned in Russia), have announced via their official Telegram channel that they have launched a rocket strike on the city of Ashkelon, as part of the ongoing “Flood of Al-Aqsa” operation. The publication does not specify the exact number of rockets fired towards Israeli territory.

Earlier, Abu Hamza, the official spokesperson for the armed wing of the Islamic Jihad, had stated that radical Palestinian groups would strongly retaliate against the killing of their leaders as a result of rocket attacks. On October 7th, the Hamas movement launched thousands of rockets towards Israeli territory, marking the beginning of the “Flood of Al-Aqsa” operation. In response, Israel’s Minister of National Security, Itamar Ben-Gvir, declared a state of emergency within the country.

Furthermore, Prime Minister Netanyahu declared that the country is in a state of war, and the Israel Defense Forces’ operation against Hamas has been named “Operation Iron Swords.” In retaliation for the rocket attacks, the Israeli Air Force targeted 21 Hamas facilities in the Gaza Strip.

It is crucial to note that these events occur within the context of the ongoing conflict between Israel and Palestinian groups. The situation remains tense, with both sides exchanging fire and escalating tensions. The international community continues to monitor the situation closely, urging all parties to exercise restraint and seek a peaceful resolution.
