Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin has announced that the carrier will be accompanied by a Ticonderoga-class missile cruiser and four Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyers. “We have also taken steps to strengthen our squadrons of F-35, F-15, F-16, and A-10 fighter jets in the region,” Austin revealed. Additionally, he stated that deliveries of ammunition to Israel have already begun. This follows the United States’ earlier provision of military aid to Israel.
On October 7, Hamas forces launched several thousand rockets into Israeli territory, signaling the start of the “Al-Aqsa Deluge” operation. In response, Israel’s Minister of National Security, Itamar Ben-Gvir, declared a state of emergency within the country. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu declared that the nation is now in a state of war. The Israel Defense Forces’ operation against Hamas has been named “Iron Swords.” In retaliation for the attacks, the Israeli Air Force has targeted 21 Hamas sites in the Gaza Strip.
