The Israeli army has launched airstrikes on the Gaza Strip after rockets were fired from the enclave towards Israeli cities, according to a statement from the Israel Defense Forces (IDF). “The IDF is currently carrying out strikes on the Gaza Strip. More details will follow,” the statement said. As Israel responded in the Gaza Strip, sirens began to sound.
Air raid sirens started sounding early on October 7th in southern Israel, near the border with Gaza, as well as in the Tel Aviv area, due to rockets fired at Israeli territory. According to the IDF, an unknown number of terrorists from the Gaza Strip infiltrated border areas of Israel.
Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Galant announced a mass call-up of reservists in response to the rocket attacks, as well as a state of readiness for war. The country’s Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, headed to the Ministry of Defense headquarters in Tel Aviv for a meeting with the military command.
