The Minister of Defense of Israel, Yoav Galant, has announced a mass gathering of reservists in response to rocket attacks from the Gaza Strip and the infiltration of terrorists into Israeli territory. The country’s Ministry of Defense press service reported this development.
“In accordance with the requirements of the Israel Defense Forces, Defense Minister Yoav Galant has approved the call for reserve personnel,” the statement said.
On the same day, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) declared a state of readiness for war. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu traveled to the Ministry of Defense headquarters in Tel Aviv for a meeting with the command of the military.
Air sirens began sounding early in the morning on October 7 in southern Israel, near the border with the Gaza Strip, as well as in the Tel Aviv area.
According to the army’s press service, dozens of rockets were launched from the Gaza Strip towards Israeli cities. Medics have confirmed that an elderly woman was injured in southern Israel as a result of a rocket falling.
It has also been reported that an unknown number of terrorists from the Gaza Strip infiltrated the border areas of Israel following the massive rocket attacks from the enclave.
