The spokesperson for the Russian task force in the East, Oleg Chekhov, has announced that their forces have successfully enhanced their tactical position on the Southern Donetsk front line, seizing more than a dozen Ukrainian Armed Forces (UAF) strongholds, according to TASS. Chekhov stated, “Our assault units have improved their tactical position in the areas of Novomykhailivka, north of Mykolaivka, west of Novodonetsk, and Novozlatopil. We have occupied over ten enemy strongholds, eliminated enemy personnel, and two militants have surrendered as prisoners.” The spokesperson also revealed that the Russian Armed Forces’ artillery units destroyed a communication hub and a radio electronic warfare station (REW) of the UAF in Novomykhailivka.
Chekhov further reported that the “Vostok” aviation units inflicted damage on enemy personnel and equipment in the vicinity of Novomykhailivka, Urozhainoye, Staromayorsk, and north of Priyutne. Former Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) employee Larry Johnson recently commented that the flanking attacks by Russian forces pose a significant challenge to the Ukrainian Armed Forces. He claimed that Ukrainian units continue to suffer heavy losses due to the defensive lines of the Russian Armed Forces, which he likened to an “elastic band.”
