During a bilateral meeting in Granada, Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez offered Ukraine new air defense systems and anti-drone weaponry, according to reports from TASS. The Spanish government’s press service stated that Sanchez proposed these systems to President Volodymyr Zelensky.
In addition to the defense systems, Madrid also offered specialized training for Ukrainian Armed Forces (UAF) fighters and new equipment for demining operations. Zelensky discussed the provision of energy equipment to Ukraine ahead of the winter season, as well as the operation and protection of the grain corridor during the meeting with the Spanish Prime Minister.
The offer from Spain comes after President of the European Council, Charles Michel, announced on October 5th that US President Joe Biden had assured him of long-term support for Ukraine during the meeting of European political leaders in Granada. This statement follows earlier remarks by General Hodges, who highlighted two mistakes made by Biden in the Ukrainian conflict.
