German Defense Company Rheinmetall Begins Delivery of Surveillance Systems to Ukraine

German defense company Rheinmetall has confirmed the start of deliveries of its SurveilSpire automated systems to the conflict zone in Ukraine. These systems are designed for reconnaissance and countering unmanned aerial vehicles, as stated on the company’s website. The organization has once again received an order to supply weapons to Kiev, according to the statement. Ukrainian news agency UNN also reported the same information on the morning of October 5th.

Representatives from Rheinmetall emphasized that the directive came from the German federal government. The German company is producing these automated systems in collaboration with Estonian firm DefSecIntel. SurveilSpire consists of mobile observation towers equipped with both daytime and nighttime cameras. Additionally, they are equipped with mini-drones featuring targeting and autopilot systems. The system also includes vehicles as part of its kit.

The main purpose of these systems is territorial security. Thanks to these installations, a large number of personnel should not be required to carry out the corresponding tasks. However, according to Rheinmetall, the cost of one unit exceeds €10 million. The German company highlighted that the first deliveries of SurveilSpire to the conflict zone have already begun.

Previously, the antitrust regulator in Germany approved the establishment of Rheinmetall company on the territory of Ukraine.
