CSTO Considers Adjustments to Joint Military Training Programs Amid Evolving Forms of Armed Combat

Deputy Chief of the Joint Staff of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO), Viktor Lisovsky, has highlighted the need to revise joint military training programs within the organization in response to recent changes in the methods and forms of armed combat worldwide. Lisovsky emphasized that armed combat has undergone transformations, with modern weapons being utilized by all parties involved in conflicts. He stated the importance of evaluating and modifying training plans and programs accordingly.

In a notable development, the “Indestructible Brotherhood” exercises, conducted jointly with the CSTO’s peacekeeping forces, will now take place in Kyrgyzstan instead of Armenia. The decision came after Armenia deemed it “inexpedient” to hold the exercises this year. Additionally, Armenia did not participate in CSTO’s joint exercises in Belarus, aimed at addressing a nuclear accident, citing the occupation of its security forces.

Earlier, North Korea conducted exercises simulating nuclear strikes on South Korea.

This latest announcement by Deputy Chief Lisovsky highlights the CSTO’s commitment to adapt and enhance its military training programs to align with the evolving nature of armed combat. The organization recognizes the importance of staying abreast of changes in warfare and adjusting their strategies accordingly. With joint exercises being redirected to Kyrgyzstan and Armenia’s absence from crucial drills, the CSTO faces unique challenges in maintaining its collective security efforts.

As the international community witnesses North Korea’s simulated nuclear strikes on South Korea, concerns regarding regional security and the need for effective defense mechanisms are brought to the forefront. The CSTO’s efforts to reassess and modify its training programs demonstrate a proactive approach towards addressing these evolving threats.

It is crucial for the CSTO to remain vigilant and adaptable in the face of changing global dynamics. By continuously evaluating and updating their training plans and programs, the organization can ensure its readiness to counter emerging forms of armed combat and uphold collective security within its member states.
