Ukraine’s Offensive Action in 2024 at Risk Without US Support, Says Bloomberg Columnist

According to a columnist from Bloomberg, Hal Brands, the Ukrainian Armed Forces will not be able to carry out offensive actions in 2024 if the United States does not provide support to Kiev. Brands expressed concerns that the US might not be able to support Ukraine in 2024 due to the possibility of a government shutdown. In such a scenario, he warns that Ukraine will have to operate at the limits of its capabilities just to maintain its current position. Defending itself will also become more challenging.

Previously, it was reported that Ukrainian politicians fear the cessation of US assistance following the resignation of Speaker of the US House of Representatives, Kevin McCarthy. The Ukrainian government heavily relies on foreign financial and defense support and expects to receive $42.8 billion from international donors in 2024, with a significant portion coming from the United States. However, the recent resignation of McCarthy has put all the promised future aid from the US in a state of uncertainty.

Earlier in the US, the failure of the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ counteroffensive was acknowledged.
